Reclaim the Night
On Thursday night students from all over Manchester, as well as families with children, took part in a peaceful protest march to "reclaim the night" from sexual assaults and attacks. This academic year (so far) there has been a 100% increase in reported rapes by students compared to last year. This is disgusting. Only the other day the same man sexually assaulted 2 girls on Wilmslow Road and has not yet been caught by the police. For those of you who don't know, Wilmslow Road is the main road that runs through Fallowfield, the area in which the majority of Manchester (UoM & Man Met) students live. It's well lit and always busy, you just don't expect it to happen there.
A Rocky Road to Heaven
I don't know about you, but I think lots of things taste better than skinny feels. And one of these things is Rocky Road. They are just SO GOOD. The contrasting textures of crunchy and chewy, hard and soft, result in a mouthful of pure joy. As I gave up pretty much everything that's tasty in the world for lent, except chocolate and biscuits, I thought I'd make these to satisfy my cravings for delicious food.

Galentine's, Valentine's & everything in between
Many people loathe Valentine's day, and I can sort of understand why. If you're single, you are forced to see endless posts of happy couples on the internet, and you can't go out without being inundated with romantic couples at dinner or in bars. It's a nightmare! But fear not, you beautiful singletons and skeptical non-singletons alike! This is where Galentine's comes in to save the day! Galentine's day is a term coined by Leslie from Parks & Recreation, and is celebrated by girls and their friends on the 13th February.

Oh so tasty flapjacks
Yesterday I came home to Windsor to get my wisdom tooth removed. So of course I took the opportunity to meet up with my partner in crime and co-baking-sensation, Tain. Usually we stick to making cookies or brownies, so to trick ourselves into thinking we were being healthy we decided to make flapjacks.
The finished product... (YUM)

Out of this world
Manchester uni holds a festival exclusively for students three times a year called Pangaea. Every Pangaea has a different theme and this one was Space Odyssey! The ones I've been to have all had fantastic themes: Club Tropicana in 1st year, Summer of Love in 3rd year and Rumble in the Jungle and Space Odyssey this year. Here are my costumes for each...

Girls who lift
I've always naturally been weirdly strong for a girl of my size, but when I started going to the gym at 16 I was lazy so stuck to the treadmill and cross trainer. I also had the irrational fear of "getting big" (it didn't help that I'm quite broad shouldered). In the summer between A levels and starting uni (so long ago!) mum paid for me to have a personal trainer as a post-exam gift. She encouraged me to leave my comfort zone and start lifting. Oh my god, the best gift ever!

Delicious Oreo goodness
Last Saturday it was Robin's 22nd birthday. I could not bear for him to celebrate cakeless but did not have the time to bake him a cake due to having two exams within 48 hours this week. So my simple solution was to buy a pack of his favourite cookies, stack them up and stick a candle in...
Looks good, I know.
